ABOUT THIS PROJECT

GVING (pronounced Giving) is the app that makes loyalty better. It takes the traditional “Buy 10, get 1 free” paper loyalty cards and improves the whole experience using your mobile phone. You can now quickly find special offers in your immediate area, keep track of your purchases at various locations, and redeem loyalty rewards from your favorite stores.

GVING approached us about converting their existing iOS mobile app to Android. GVING wanted to be able to reach all consumers, and not having an Android app was a significant handicap. Establishing an Android presence enabled Gving to significantly grow its business by providing its services to value-conscious consumers on the Android platform.

ROLE

Responsible for implementing all functionality:

• Built application UI using the leading Android custom controls (PullToRefresh, UITableView and more). Animations use the improved Honeycomb animation APIs for superior results.
• Implemented Facebook login and Facebook share.
• Connected with backend JSON APIs to perform login and retrieve and save data.
• Implemented efficient always-on geolocation service.
• Used Google Maps to display points of interest and balloons with location details.
